Jean Stewart McKenzie Jones, 93, passed away at Adirondack Medical Center after a brief illness on November 21, 2011.
Born September 5, 1918 in Monterey, California to Joseph Hislop Stewart and Sarah Maude Fryer.
Jean grew up in Carmel Valley, California. Graduated from Monterey High School Class of 1936. Graduated from University of California, Berkeley, Class of 1940. Married Donald McKenzie, Jr. on September 8, 1941, returning to live in Carmel Valley. Had 4 children, Susan Dublin, (Jerry) from Ash Grove, MO, Stewart Donald McKenzie from Nevada City, CA., Sarah (Sally) McKenzie Plumb (Bill) from Saranac Lake, NY, and Scott Alexander McKenzie ( Jana Dewey) from Ft. Collins, Colo.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Joseph Stewart, her first husband Donald, and her second husband, T. Paul Jones. She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jean lived in many parts of the country. After the death of her first husband, she moved from California to Loveland, Colorado where she met her second husband, Therman Paul Jones. They were married in 1978 in Kona, Hawaii, where they resided for 8 years. From Hawaii she moved back to Colorado, then to Arizona, then to Nevada City, CA., and finally to Saranac Lake, NY where she has lived for the past 12 years.
Jean loved reading and cross -word puzzles.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Fuenral Home in Saranac Lake. A family memorial service is planned for California .
