TUPPER LAKE
Glorya Leah Jessie, 87 of Tupper Lake, died Friday, September 28th at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Cranberry Lake on June 28,1925 she was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Zande. She married William Jessie in 1949. Glorya worked at Sunmount when it was a VA hospital, then later worked as the Administrative Secretary to the Business Officer there. She retired on September 15, 1991. Glorya had a "green thumb". She loved working in her garden and even when you walked in her house there were flowers in every window. She bowled in the Thursday night league for over 20 years. She was also the Chief of the local volunteer rescue squad for many years. For the past few years she worked in the foster grandparent program and loved being with the children. Her biggest joy was attending a Yankee game, as she loved the Yankees and watched every game on tv.
She is survived by four daughters, Lisl and Jeffrey Tedford of Bloomingdale, Gia and Carl Demarais of North Carolina, Tina Jessie of Tupper Lake, and Gaye and John O'Neil of Bloomingdale.
She was predeceased by one son, David Jessie in 2009, 9 brothers and sisters, Helen Pisanchin, Mary Snyder, James Zande, who died as a young child, Atilio Zande, Augusto Zande, Amedio Zande, Octovio Zande, Vito Zande, and James Zande, She had 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are scheduled from 5 -7 pm, Thursday, October 4 at the Stuart-Fortune- Keough Funeral home followed by a funeral service at 7 pm. A reception will follow at the V.F.W. on Park St.
