Jeffrey A. Beamish

Jeffrey A. Beamish, 74, of Saranac Lake, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his immediate family. His passing was the result of complications from a severe stroke.

Born on February 27, 1950, in Ogdensburg, NY, Jeffrey was the beloved son of Frank and Nancy Beamish. He is survived by his devoted spouse of 32 years, Dr. Nadine F. Case; three daughters, Sarah (Aaron) Ryne, Krissa Beamish (Steve Wilson), and Trisha (Matthew) Dunn; his stepdaughter, Virginia Case (Chris Schwarz); and his treasured grandchildren, Ryan, Finley, and Grace. He is also survived by the Feneck family, his brother Michael, sisters Barbara and Margaret, six nieces, and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and two younger brothers, Allen and Patrick.

Jeff was a proud graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School (1968) and later earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Canadian Studies from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1976 after attending North Country Community College.

Deeply connected to the Adirondacks, Jeff’s love for the outdoors began in childhood at his family’s hunting camp. This passion grew into a lifelong pursuit, leading him on hunting expeditions across the Adirondacks and to destinations such as Alexandria Bay, Canada, Texas, Illinois, and the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia.

Jeff was also an accomplished athlete, demonstrating excellence in bobsledding and rugby. He competed with the Saranac Lake Bobsled Team and represented the United States as a member of the USA Bobsled Team, racing internationally. During the warmer months, he played rugby for the Saranac Lake Mountaineers Rugby Club. His dedication and contributions to the club were recognized when he was inducted into their Hall of Fame, receiving the prestigious Black Jacket in July 2021.

Professionally, Jeff devoted more than five decades to his work as a master builder and craftsman, leaving a legacy of extraordinary homes and boathouses throughout the Adirondacks. His remarkable ability to understand and shape his clients’ visions, coupled with his deep knowledge of materials and land, resulted in structures that harmonized beauty, functionality, and craftsmanship. Jeff’s work enriched the community and will endure as a testament to his skill and vision.

Faith was an integral part of Jeff’s life. A devoted parishioner of the Church of St. Luke the Beloved Physician in Saranac Lake, he served his congregation as an usher and vestry warden, contributing his time and talents in various capacities.

Those who knew Jeff were captivated by his warmth, charisma, and boundless energy. A gifted storyteller, he had an unparalleled ability to bring joy to those around him. His humor and adventurous spirit were matched by his kindness, humility, and deep commitment to his family. Conversations about his daughters and grandchildren brought him particular pride and joy.

Jeff’s passing leaves a profound void that will be felt deeply by his family, friends, and the Adirondack community. His legacy, however, lives on in the memories of those who knew him, the structures he created, and the lives he touched.
