Joe Hull

Joe Goodall Hull, age 80, of Saranac Lake died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

Born in Hightown, Virginia on September 05, 1931, he was the son of Max and Bess (Chew) Hull. Joe married Jeanette (Jean) Mercadente. She predeceased him on March 27, 2009.

Joe was born and raised in Highton, VA where he attended local schools. Following graduation from high school Joe joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Glendale (PF36) and the USS Hopewell (DD681) during the Korean War. Joe had been employed as a painter for most of his life working in Saranac Lake and Florida. He is a past member of the Veterans Memorial Association and the Moose Club in Florida. He especially enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by one sister Charlotte Gladd of Saranac Lake, several nieces and nephews including Denise Lester of Saranac Lake, Angela Howard of Saranac Lake, and Daniel Lester of Saranac Lake and several cousins including Carl and Eugene Hull, B.T. Swecker, Jr. both of Blue Grass, VA. He is also survived by many good friends including Jim Luce of Saranac Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one sister Doris Ramsay.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
