Joseph Lewis Howlett, age 73, formerly of 115 Breezy Acres Lane, Saranac Lake, died Friday, July 31, 2015 at C.V.P.H Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 21, 1941, he was the son of Kirby and Helen (Potter Lewis) Howlett, Jr.
Joe had worked for 32 years as a special education teacher for Nassau County Boces working with emotionally disturbed and brain injured teenagers. He was a counselor and administrator at the Ramapo Anchorage Camp. Joe loved churches. He adored the Winchester Cathedral in England. He also enjoyed Broadway and music, Joe was a lover of dogs and boating as well as traveling, but most of all he loved helping others. His kindness showed no end. Truly a person with a heart of gold.
He is survived by several very close friends including Tia and Cris Arzola of West Chazy, NY. He was predeceased by one brother Kirby S. Howlett, III.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at the convenience of his family in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
