Benjamin Franklin Howatt, III, age 78, of 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at the AMC-Uihlein Mercy Nursing Center.
Born in Farmington, Maine on August 23, 1936, he was the son of Benjamin and Ellen (Everett) Howatt, II.
Benjamin had been employed as a college professor at Paul Smiths College for over 20 years until his retirement. He joined the Navy Reserve at the age of 18 and later attended and graduated from Clark University. Ben especially enjoyed playing the guitar.
He is survived by one son Benjamin F. Howatt, IV of North Carolina and one brother Jack Howatt of Farmington, Maine.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date in Maine.
