Donald James Hough, age 56, of 4900 State Route 3, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, May 07, 2011 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.
Born in Syracuse, New York on November 14, 1954, he was the son of James and Pearl (Babbie) Hough. Donald married Colleen Reed March 3, 2001 in Bloomingdale, New York.
Don served in the United States Army from September 4, 1972 to September 4, 1975 and spent 8 months serving in Vietnam. He worked for many years as a DJ at WRGR in Tupper Lake. He also worked as a painter and carpenter independently. Don worked at Tops in Lake Placid until it closed and then went to work at Price Chopper in Lake Placid. Most recently he worked as a civil service test administrator. Don became an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church on January 20, 2009.
He is survived by his wife Colleen Reed-Hough of Saranac Lake, NY, one daughter Angela Hough of Fredericksburg, VA, one sister Cindy Hough-Woodson and her partner Jim Dakin of Bloomingdale, NY, his father and mother-in-law Calvin and Delores Reed of Saranac Lake, NY, several nieces and nephews including Kristy Arroyo of Plattsburgh, NY and Joseph Kenison of Chateaugay, NY, 1 grandson, 2 great nieces, 3 great nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dogs and constant companions CV and Klaus. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 14, 2011 at St. Paul's Church, with Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale with military honors.
