William “Bill” Alan Hewitt, age 65, of Bloomingdale, died Monday July 13, 2020 at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Saranac Lake, NY on October 31, 1954, the son of Jack and Mary (Stickney) Hewitt.
Bill was a lifelong resident and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1972. He voluntarily joined the Marine Corps serving from 1972 -1974 during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged with the rank of L/Cpl. Bill graduated North Country Community College in 1978 with an AAS Degree in Mental Health. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bill is survived by his son William “BJ” Hewitt of Moira, NY and his daughter Michelle (Bryan) of North Carolina. He is also survived by four grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his brother Dick (Brenda) Hewitt of Saranac Lake and sister Jody (Kevin) Sewell of PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John and two sisters: Patti and Ann.
Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service is tentatively set for Saturday August 8, 2020 at 10:00am at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to any Veterans Organization in Bill’s memory in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. The family will be receiving visitors at his home on Saturday July 18, 2020.
