Daniel C. Hathaway, age 62, of 251 Ampersand Ave, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center.
Born in Lake Placid, New York on November 02, 1947, he was the son of Hubert and Doris (Goodrow) Hathaway. He married Barbara Boula on October 26, 1985 in St. Bernard's Church.
Dan graduated from Lake Placid High School. He had been employed as a truck driver by Maddens Transfer and Storage for over 20 years. Mr. Hathaway is a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam War. He volunteered at the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Saranac Lake for many years. He enjoyed his coffee time with friends at Stewart's in Saranac Lake. He was a devoted loving father; grandfather and husband who loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He also loved helping a person in need.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Hathaway of Saranac Lake, NY; one daughter Sandy Hathaway and her fiancé Mark Stevens of Bloomingdale, NY; two sons Ryan Hathaway and his wife Traci of Saranac Lake, NY and Christopher Banker of Saranac Lake, NY; three grandchildren Stephen Banker, Madison Hathaway and Kierstin Stevens; his mother Doris Branchaud of Saranac Lake, one sister Judy Hathaway and her companion Larry Harris of Saranac Lake, NY; two brothers Kevin Branchaud of Massena, NY, and Darrell Branchaud of Saranac Lake, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Hubert Hathaway.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 6PM - 8PM. A bible vigil service will take place Sunday evening at 7:45 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM, on Monday January 25, 2010 at St. Bernard's Church with Paul Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
