Marion Hamm of Vermontville, N.Y. passed away Friday July 8th at the Adirondack Medical Center where she had worked for 30 years as a nurse.
She was born in Tupper Lake, N.Y. on September 19, 1925 to William and Effie (Simpson) Fletcher.
She married George Hamm who predeceased her in 1965. Marion is survived by three sons: Donald (Doris) of Vermontville, John of Vermontville, James (Mary Lou) of Valrico, Florida, a sister Eileen Waters of Canastota, N.Y. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer Hamm Greenfield (Tim) of Homer, N.Y., Darrell (Holly) of Fairfield Pennsylvania, Christian and Ryan Hamm of Florida. She was predeceased by one grandson, Daniel Hamm. Also survives are three great grandchildren: Trent and Eliza Greenfield and Andrew Hamm. Several nieces and nephews survive her.
She was predeceased by a sister Wylda Rose Hall Liverman, Herbert Fletcher, and James Fletcher.
Marion loved to travel throughout her life to many of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, going out for lunch and reading in her spare time. She was a member of the Vermontville 55 Senior Club and the Bloomingdale Senior Club. She had also been a member of the Bloomingdale Fire Department Auxiliary.
The family wishes to thank those involved in her care and the kindest they showed at Adirondack Medical, Uihlein Living Center, the Lake Placid Volunteer Rescue Squad and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. According to Marion’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 12th at 11:00 by Pastor Bruce McCulley in Union Cemetery in Vermontville, N.Y.
