Marie M. Gonyea, age 71, of 1235 County Route 60, Vermontville, died Monday, March 05, 2012 at C.V.P.H Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY.
Born in Vermontville, New York on August 10, 1940, she was the daughter of Merton and Adeline (St. Louis) Skeels. Marie married Gordon Gonyea on January 13, 1990 in LaFargeville, NY. He predeceased her on November 21, 2009.
Marie had been employed as a cook at the Saranac Lake Adult Center. Prior to that she had owned and operated her own restaurant the Coroner Cafe and had worked at various area businesses including the Bloomin Market in Bloomingdale. She was a member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club, Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and Kate Mountain Youth Association. Marie especially loved to go fishing.
She is survived by her son James P. Gibeault of Vermontville, New York, five stepchildren Diana Lenker and her husband James of Florida, William Hinkley and his wife Barbie of North Carolina, Tina Russell and her husband Brian of North Carolina, Brian Hinkley and his wife Patty of Saranac Lake, NY, James Hinkley of Vermontville, NY, one sister Cora Salls and her husband Ted of Lake Clear, and several grandchildren, niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two children Wallace Scott and Merton Dale Gibeault.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place in Union Cemetery in Vermontville at the convenience of the family in the spring.
