Karyn Fay Giles 40, of 102 Woodruff St, Saranac Lake, died Monday January 28, 2013 with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 5, 1972 in Danbury Conn. She is the daughter of Harold John Giles and Fay Louise (Johnson) Hartpence.
Karyn graduated from Saranac Central School. She went on to graduate from Paul Smiths College, majoring in environmental science. She continued on getting her master's degree in teaching, was a literacy volunteer and raised three daughters at the same time. She did some student teaching and tutoring in the Saranac Lake School District. She was a very devoted mother and an active sports mom. She had coached her daughters' soccer team in the past and could always be seen cheering her girls teams on until her health declined. She was diagnosed with an inherited liver disease and was in need of a transplant.
She is survived by her parents, Harold John Giles and his companion Dawn Tidas, of Brainardsville NY, Fay Louise (Johnson) of Tennessee. She leaves behind four beautiful children; Kennedy Snyder 17, Katey Snyder 15, Cameron Snyder 14 and Tryon Haltigan 5. Her siblings, Maureen (Giles) Ratliff and her companion Tim Taylor of Beekmantown NY, John Giles and his wife Kristina of Fairfax VT. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Corryn (Provost) Thomas and her husband Doug, their children Rachel, Seth and Kiona all of West Chazy, and Victoria, Nicholas and Kimberlin Ratliff all of Beekmantown. She will also be dearly missed by John Snyder and Pat Haltigan her children’s' fathers, and many, many friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Rita & Loran Giles, Uncles, Donald Giles and William Brown, cousins, Dale Giles & Brad Brown.
Calling hours are set to take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday February 1, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Muench officiating. Final disposition of Karyn’s cremated remains, a reception and celebration of Karyn’s life will take place in the Spring
