Dorothy O. Gardner, “Dottie”, 90, of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, February 13, at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 28, 1922. She was the youngest child of Swedish immigrants, Axel and Hilda Olson. She was married to the late Hezekiah Gardner.
Mrs. Gardner was employed by Westinghouse Corp. and lived for 48 years in Kearny, NJ before retiring to Saranac Lake in 1992. In Saranac Lake she volunteered at Hospice, Adirondack Medical Center, and was involved with the Red Hatters. For many years she was proud to share her Swedish tradition of Glogg with the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Ice Palace builders. She loved to entertain and cook for large groups. In the summer months, she welcomed many visitors to her camp on Oseetah Lake. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A service of celebration will take place at First United Methodist Church, 63 Church St, Saranac Lake, on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
