Therese Fortier

Therese Beatrice Fortier, 93, of Tupper Lake, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Born on February 11, 1916 in St. Gedeon, Quebec, she was the daughter of Napoleon and Emily (Fortin) Cliche. She married Arthur Fortier in 1943 and they moved to Tupper Lake in 1958. Mrs. Fortier was a home maker all of her life. Mr. Fortier passed away in 1980. She is survived by two daughters; Lise and her husband Lionel Couture of Cortland, Suzie Bashant of Tupper Lake, three sons; Serge Fortier, Ghislain Fortier, Yvon and wife Kathy Fortier all of Tupper Lake, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, five sisters; Irma, Rita, Geane, Gisele, Micheline, three brothers; Clement, Fernand and Jean. She was pre-deceased by her husband, one sister and three brothers. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, December 15 from 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Adirondack Adult Center or the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.
