Roy C. Foote, 88, of Tupper Lake passed away, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born February 16, 1922 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Roy and Pearl (Wood) Foote. Mr. Foote attended local schools and entered the U.S. Army on October 29, 1940. Mr. Foote served as a Infantryman in the European-African Theaters and was honorable discharged on June 17, 1945. He returned to Tupper Lake and took employment with J&L Steel in Star Lake and retired in 1976. On August 6, 1946 he married the former Rena Gaudet at St. Alphonsus Church. She pre-deceased him on February 6, 2009. For the past several years, he has worked at LP Quinn elementary school in the Foster Grandparent program. Mr. Foote was a Life Member of the VFW and American Legion and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He is survived by a daughter Patricia Varden and her husband Patrick of Tupper Lake, a son Wayne and his wife Nancy of Tupper Lake, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lillian Barham of Rochester, Shirley Tromblay of Tupper Lake and one brother, Francis of Webster. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with a funeral service being held at 8pm, at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake.
