Linus N. Fobare, 88, of Ormond Beach, Florida, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Linus was born in Saranac Lake, on March 25, 1928. He married Beverly Bynoon on Nov. 29, 1980.
Linus was employed as a plumber in the family business, Fobare & Sons Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union No. 773, and honorably served in the Army Reserve and the National Guard.
Linus enjoyed speed skating in his younger years, he played baseball for the Brighton Blues, and he was an avid hunter and golfer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1508 for 65 years, where he held the positions of District Deputy, State Vice President and Exalted Ruler.
Survivors include his wife Beverly, stepchildren Kathy Betters of Batavia, Carol (Joe) Perreaud of Rochester, Lt. Col. Richard (Dr. Lucille) Byno of Tallahassee, Florida, and Patti (Dr. Douglas) Schwartz of Albany; one brother, Malcolm (Peppy) Fobare of Ormond Beach, Florida; and one sister, Paula (Jerry) Cheney of Saranac Lake; and children Sandra Fobare and Susan (Kevin) Pratt, both of Saranac Lake. Linus had 13 grandchildren, to whom he was extremely close, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leo and Laura (Ashline) Fobare, and two brothers, Chester Fobare and Jerry Fobare.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22 at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. A burial service will be held at noon Sept. 23 in Brighton Cemetery in Gabriels.
Friends wishing to remember Linus N. Fobare may make contributions to Elks Lodge No. 1508 in Saranac Lake.
