James Flint

James R. Flint, 65 of 17 Beaver Pond Way, Saranac Lake, NY died Thursday November 12, 2009 at his favorite place to be in (Hunting Camp)

He was born on December 25, 1943 in Malone, New York the son of James K. and Mildred (LaFountain) Flint. He married Marjorie Hall on September 26, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.

Jim attended school in Massena, NY and later joined the United States Army where he served from 1960 to 1963. After completing his service in the US Army, he went to work for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Plant in East Hartford, Conn. Jim joined the Carpenters' Union in 1969. He worked local jobs and then worked on the Alaskan Pipe Line from 1974 to 1985. When he returned, he joined the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring as a Sergeant in 2006. Jim and his wife owned and operated Flint's Motel on Lake Flower Ave. in Saranac Lake for 19 years. Jim was a member of the Whiteface Mountain Lodge #789 Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Media Shriners, Watertown, NY. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time at his winter home in Florida where he liked to fish and relax at the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marjorie of Saranac Lake, his daughter Andrea Benham and his granddaughter Laura Benham of Antioch, CA; three sisters Ruth Worden of Massena, NY, Shirley Scharf of Winthrop and Dorothy St. Amond of Strasburg, VA; one brother Ross K. Flint and his wife Sharon of Duane, NY; brother and sister-in-laws Paul Gundlach and his wife Audrey of Scotia, NY, Elwin J. Hall and his wife Charlotte of Lake Clear, NY and Paul St. Amond of Florida; 1 aunt, Marion Flint of Vermontville, 8 nieces, 10 nephews and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, and two brother-in-laws Norm Worden and Ben Scharf.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday November 17, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Masonic Service will take place at 8:30 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 18, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Saranac Lake. Internment will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
