Jeanne Fisher

Jeanne O. Fisher, age 84, of 88 County Route 18, Lake Clear, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 26, 1926, she was the daughter of James and Oda (Brown) Otis.

Jeanne graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1942. She married Charles E. Fisher on February 22, 1946, the day he received his commission in the United States Navy at Yale University in New Haven, CT. He predeceased her on June 27, 1996. Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper for John LaPan’s Sons, Inc. and the Otis and Elliott general contracting company which later was owned and operated by her husband. She was a life long resident of Lake Clear where she had played the organ at the Adirondack Presbyterian Church for many years. Jeanne also served as a tax collector for the Town of Harriestown and was formerly an Avon sales representative.

She is survived by two daughters Lynne Fisher Kemp and her husband Terrance of Saranac Lake, NY, and Cathy Fisher Hohmeyer and her husband Ernest of Lake Clear, five grandchildren Gretchen, Dieter and Yurgen Hohmeyer all of Lake Clear, Rachel and Jessica Kemp of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by her 2nd cousin Rogene LeMay of Lake Clear. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother-in-law John W. Fisher who died April 27, 2004.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Jeanne’s family will receive friends at the Lake Clear Lodge on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2PM - 4PM. Burial will take place at Church of the Ascension Cemetery in Saranac Inn in the spring.
