Steven Finn

December 12, 1959 — January 3, 2019

Steve Finn, 59, died peacefully at his home January 3, 2019 from complications of diabetes.

The son of James and Edna Finn, he was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Martha and Marge, he is survived by siblings Sue, Jim, Fred (Heather), Rick (Linda), many nieces and nephews, and a small but dedicated group of loving friends.

Born in Saranac Lake, NY, he graduated from Paul Smith’s College (magna cum laude) and Ithaca College (Bachelor of Science), all while setting (and visiting) the bar for revelry and friendship. While he had a successful and respected financial career at Price Waterhouse Coopers CPA, Sweeney and Associates CPA, CFO at Adirondack Medical Center, CEO at American Whirlpool, Delta Faucets and Florida Marketing, if you asked him about his work, he would rather recount stories of bartending at Mark’s Bar and adventures with the 1980 Winter Olympic Committee, notably as VIP Chauffeur.

He lived a full and fiercely independent lifestyle, enjoying major league sporting events, Nascar races, Fort Lauderdale nightclubs or an occasional hot hand of poker with friends or at one of the casinos he enjoyed relieving of a few dollars. Steve would frequently fly to Saranac Lake or elsewhere, just for a golf date or family celebration. Intelligent and well-informed, he was a wealth of knowledge and shared his wisdom freely, solicited or otherwise. His spirit of generosity to family and friends however, knew few limits, and at times he could be equal parts “The Godfather” and “Uncle Buck”. Likewise, he never forgot any kindness provided to him when needed. In the event of his demise he did not want any fuss, but his family would rather you share a few words recounting a fond memory either to stevenjfinn@gmail.com or to his Steve Finn Facebook page.

Fortune-Keough Funeral Home of Saranac Lake are in charge of arrangements. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Donation in Steve’s memory can be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in care of the funeral home. Family and friends can also sign the online guest book at fortunekeoughfuneralhome.com. As his friends will continue feeding the wildlife at his back porch in Bloomingdale, kindly take moment to share a long hug with someone you care about. He would like that.
