Janet L. Finley, age71, of 45 Main Street Apt. 403, Bloomingdale, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
Born in Rome, New York on March 11, 1940, she was the daughter of James and Ethel Mae (Washburn) Finley. She was first married Robert Aldrich from 1957 to 1965. They divorced and she later remarried Rodger Rhone in Vermilion, Ohio in 1972.
Janet attended Rome Schools. She graduated from Lorain County Community College, Elyria, Ohio nursing program in 1982 and returned to Rome, New York in 1988. She was employed by Rome Memorial Hospital until 1992 and then moved to Tupper Lake where she was employed by Mercy Health Care until her retirement in 1995 due to a disability. Following retirement, Janet moved to Saranac Lake and volunteered at the Saranac Lake Ault Center from 1999 until present. She enjoyed working on the Adult Center News Paper "Senior Outlook"; volunteered as a Eucharist minister for St. Bernard's Church, volunteered for High Peaks Hospice and the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Janet was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan. She opened her home and her heart to anyone in need.
She is survived by six children Robert Aldrich and his wife Karen of Rome, NY, Steven Aldrich of Constableville, NY, David Hadasz and his wife Sharon of New Hartford, NY, Kim Morse and her husband Craig of Ilion, NY, Janet Lynn Boyd and her husband Raymon of Saranac Lake, NY, Kathleen Robertson and her husband Joseph Robertson of Preston, OK, 28 Grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one sister Marjorie Gorman of Rome, NY. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, her sister Eleanor Bartell, and her brother James Finley.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday October 19, at St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Additional calling hours will take place at the Strong Funeral Home in Rome New York on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Rome.
