TUPPER LAKE- Pauline Marie Ferris, 94, of 91 Wawbeek Ave, Tupper Lake passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the AMC Mercy Center where she had resided since October. Born October 7, 1916 in Glens Falls, NY , she was the daughter of William and Mabel (Sawyer) Gokey. She attended schools in St. Regis Falls and in 1962 earned her High School Equivalency Diploma. On November 9, 1934 Pauline married Burlan J. Holmes at St. Ann's Church Rectory in St. Regis Falls. He died on February 21, 1978. On September 28, 1985, she married Albert Ferris of Tupper Lake at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls. He died on June 29, 1994. Pauline was a longtime member of the St. Ann's Church Alter and Rosary Society. She moved to Tupper Lake in 1985 and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church. She was a hard working dedicated and loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed reading, sewing, playing cards, fishing, camping, traveling and making doughnuts. She was employed at the Malone Dress Factory in Malone and worked under the Green Thumb Program in St. Regis Falls and as a Foster Grandparent in later years in a special needs classroom at L.P. Quinn Elementary School. For several years, she also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Basselt, VA and Waco, TX as a gate attendant. Surviving are three daughters; Margaret (Holmes) Daniel and Jayline (Holmes) Perry, both of Malone, Idona (Holmes) Jermano and her husband F. Thomas of Tupper Lake, one son Jay B. Holmes of St. Regis Falls, one step-daughter, Lillian Ferris of Glendale, six grandchildren; Stephen Perry, Kimberly Newell , Thomas, Mark and Donn Jermano, Alicia Tabolt, two step grandchildren Justin an Jessie Ferris and twelve great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Carol Collins and Agnes Seaver LaBrake. One son-in-law George Daniel and several sister and brother-in-laws. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17th from 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be in St. Regis Falls in the spring.
