John Farrington

September 10, 1946 — February 12, 2022

John Jackson Farrington, age 74, of Saranac Lake, NY died Saturday February 12, 2022 at his residence.

John was born in Manchester, NH on September 10, 1946 the son of William and (Hazel) Catherine (Hammond) Farrington.

John was named after his grandfather, a longtime resident and dentist in Saranac Lake, NY. He was a graduate of Portsmouth, NH High School where he held a track record for more than 20 years. He attended the University of South Carolina.

John served in the US Navy being stationed in Turkey and Hawaii during the Vietnam war. He retired from the American Red Cross in Tucson, AZ after being a school bus driver in Portland, OR. John loved to adventure and he hiked many trails including the Appalachian and Pacific Crest trails.

John is survived by his daughter Keeley Shannon Sullivan (Kristie Duprey), his son Rob Sakovitch (Vivian), his grandchildren” Annalea, Grace and Katherine Sullivan, Lucy and Henry Jackson Farrington and Ella Sakovitch.

John is also survived by his great granddaughter Ramona Sullivan as well as his nephews” Gabe Magassy, Bill and Rick Arsenault. John is also survived by his former wife Roberta Farrington and her children, David (Jill) Thompson, Sandra Thompson-Blain, Susan (Edward) Young.

John was preceded in death by his father and mother, his twin brother William “Bill” who passed away in 1962 in Portsmouth, NH where they grew up. He was also predeceased by his sister Kathryn Arsenault (Rene) who preceded him to Heaven 4 years ago.

John left behind his best friend Greg Phillips and longtime friend Lori Donnell, Greg Clement, Teddi Daunis and family, and many other friends that he took to Dr. appointments and shopping errands. He was the “unofficial cab driver” for many friends in Saranac Lake. He was always happy to help someone. He will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At John’s request, friends and family will Celebrate his life and spread his remains this summer in his favorite place, on a mountain top.
