James Farr Sr

LONG LAKE- James H. Farr Sr., 71 passed away at his home in Long Lake, New York on June 11, 2010.

Born on December 6, 1938 in Long Lake. The son of Charles H. and Virginia Helms Farr. He graduated from Long Lake Central School. After high school Jim served in the Army and received an honorable discharge.

He is survived by his siblings: Charles R. Farr and his companion Judy Nerney of Long Lake, Jeanne and her husband Lew Plumley of Long Lake, Judy and her husband David Garrison of Long Lake.

He was married to Meredith M. Farr on November 5th 1983.

He spent his life working with heavy equipment and belonged to the IUOE Local 106 and went on to own, operate and recently retired from Buck Mt. Contractors.

Jim enjoyed his RV and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had a passion for snowmobile racing and was Race Director of the Long Lake 100. He was a member of the Long Lake Lions Club, serving as President for several years. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

He is survived by Mimi, his wife of 26 years. His children, Connie Layne and Rodger of Camden, NY. Brian Farr and his wife Emily of Long Lake. Colleen Wright of Hampton Bays, NY and Kelly Black and her husband Mike of Long Lake NY. Stepchildren: James F. Farr, Jr. and wife Lynn of Portland, OR., John N. Farr and wife Sylvie of Big Flats, NY. He had 16 grandchildren and 3 great -grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by an infant son, Michael P. , son James H. Farr, Jr., and bother David Farr.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 18th from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the St Henry’s Parish Center in Long Lake. A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 19th @ 10:00AM at St. Henry's with interment to follow at the Long Lake Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Parish Center.
