Patricia "Patty" Farmer

Patricia "Patty" J. Farmer, age 59, of 18 Turkey Run Lane, Bloomingdale, NY died Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home, after a long and courageous two year battle with cancer.

Born in Kensington, Pennsylvania on January 07, 1952, she was the daughter of Richard and Geneva (Patnode) Goldner. She married Steven Farmer on August 14, 1993 in Bloomingdale, New York.

Pat attended and graduated from Gavit High School in Hammond, Indiana. She later attended and graduated from Indiana University with her Bachelors and from Purdue University with her Masters in Special Education. Following college she taught for one year in Kentucky, 14 years in Hammond, Indiana and over 20 years for Franklin, Hamilton, Essex County BOCES teaching in schools in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and most recently Malone until she had to retired in February of this year for health reasons. Pat was deeply committed to her students and loved teaching them. She was an avid reader and loved the outdoors, especially working around their house.

She is survived by her husband Steven Farmer Bloomingdale, NY, one son Travis Farmer who is currently a student at Brockport University, her mother Geneva and her step-father Edward Hammer of Valparaiso, Indiana and two sisters Nancy Fitzpatrick and her husband William of Melbourne, FL, and Judy Goldner of Aliso Viejo, CA. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Goldner.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 2PM -4PM and 7PM - 9PM. A bible vigil service will take place at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 31, 2011 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will take place at Merrillsville Cemetery in Loon Lake in May.
