Elizabeth Betty Farmer

Elizabeth “Betty” Joan Farmer, age 71, of 235 Lake Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at her home.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 06, 1939, she was the daughter of Loyal "Pete" and Violet (Tormey) Farmer.

She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She lived life and loved on her own terms and continued the practice through her passing. She enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, collecting antique bottles and various crafts. She was a life time resident mostly of Saranac Lake and at various times worked as a healthcare aid and hospital attendant. She will be missed and we wish her peace, comfort and joy in being reunited with her family members who are anxiously awaiting her arrival.

She is survived by three children Brian Battistoni and his wife Kelly of Saranac Lake, NY, Kathy Skillman and her husband Warren of Duxbury, MA, and Rick Battistoni and his wife Heather of Montpelier, VT, her long time companion Lester LaPrade of Saranac Lake, NY, one sister Sharon Branch of Saranac Lake, NY, one brother Steven Farmer of Bloomingdale, NY, 7 Grandchildren, Blake, Keegan, Linsey, Nathan, Nicholas, Sydney and Whitney, 3 nieces Carter Cruikshank, Laura and Rachel Branch and 7 nephews Jarrett and Wyatt Cruikshank, Mark, Robert, Michael, Troy and Travis Farmer. She is also survived by her former husband Richard "Dick" Battistoni of Buskirk, NY. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister Linda Farmer, and one brother Robert "Bob" Farmer.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, August 16, 2010 from 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow on Monday at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Please feel free to pay your final visit in casual attire.
