Sheila Ann (Symonda) Elsenbeck, age 66, of Tupper Lake, NY passed away on Sunday,
March 14th, 2021 unexpectedly at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side.
Sheila was born August 2, 1954 in Saranac Lake, NY to Isabelle Mosher (Tucker) and
Kenneth Symonds. She was the wife of Keith Elsenbeck and mother of Yvonne (Elsenbeck) Sutton.
Sheila was predeceased by her mom, Isabelle Mosher, two brothers, Steven and
Kevin Symonds, and her grandson Skylar.
Sheila graduated in 1973 from Saranac Lake Central High School. She married her
best friend, Keith in 1976 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Bloomingdale, NY. One of her
greatest joys and accomplishments was when her and Keith became parents to their daughter
Yvonne (age 3) in 1993.
Although Saranac Lake was her home town, in the summer of 2017, she and Keith
moved to Tupper Lake NY, to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Initially she was
hesitant to make the move, however she quickly grew to love the area, the community and the
friends she made throughout the years.
Sheila had various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite job of all was being a home
health aid for the elderly and disabled community where she always built a special bond with
each individual she cared for.
Sheila was a caring woman who had a kind heart, unconditional love for her family, and
was well known in the community for her sassy and infectious sense of humor. She made a
lasting impression on anyone she met. Friends and family alike unanimously agree that life will
not be the same without her.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Keith, their daughter, Yvonne (Claude) Sutton, and
her two grandchildren, Wyatt and Willow Sutton whom she often spoke of as being the two that
kept her going, made her feel young at heart, and were her whole world. Sheila is also survived
by her siblings Gail Chauvin, Tuffield (Diana) Symonds, Doris (Daniel) Spencer, Robert
Symonds, Joan Blue, Ken (Billi Jo) Symonds, several nieces and nephews and great nieces
and nephews.
