Carla Ellis

Carla Ellis, 86, of Bloomingdale NY passed away April 19th 2023 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Carla was born in Dillon Montana on August 22, 1937 to Ingvard Jensen and Myrtle Hansen.

She was the eldest of seven children, growing up on a sheep ranch in rural Montana. She enjoyed living on the ranch and was active in the 4-H club, showing sheep as a child. Carla met her husband of 38 wonderful years, Thomas Gould, while in Montana. Carla and Thomas had five children and traveled frequently for Thomas’s work with the forest service. Carla worked as a school teacher and later had her own business as a dog groomer while living in Milford, Pennsylvania.

Carla settled in upstate New York about 20 years ago enjoying gardening, spending time with family and friends and crafting. Carla was an animal lover, her cat, Ninja, will greatly miss her. Carla enjoyed traveling as well, with her favorite place being near the ocean in Nova Scotia.

Carla is predeceased by her parents, her husband and sisters Clara Jenkins and Vera Wood.

Carla is lovingly remembered by her family, including her siblings Ingvard Jensen, Esther (Charles) Petrosky, Mary Lee Jensen, and Margaret (Gary) Rutledge.

Her children, Sue (Bob) Ratz of Pennsburg, PA, Thomas (Melissa) Ellis of Conway, SC, Cindy (Steve) Strack of Saranac Lake, NY, Becky (Jimmy) Frey of Shallotte, North Carolina, and Walter (Kathy) Ellis of Jupiter, FL. Her grandchildren, Stephen Strack, Stephanie Strack, Dr. Katlyn (Dr. Connor Smith) Frey, Brian Frey, Samantha Ellis, Krissy Ellis, Marie Ellis, Shannon Ellis and Roxanne Ellis.

And many other loving family and friends.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral home on Saturday April, 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11 AM. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Higman officiating.
