TUPPER LAKE-Ruth Rose McKinney Dumont, 96, passed away, Monday, June 11 at Mercy living center. Born January 18, 1916 to Rose Barcomb and Daniel McKinney in Dannemora, NY . In April 1936 she married Gerald E. Dumont Sr. He pre-deceased her in February 1971. Ruth attended University of Buffalo while at the time working as a correctional officer at Albion Correctional Facility for women in Western, NY. Returning to the Malone/North Bangor area, she was a much sought after cook. He life- long interest in sewing for her family helped with her years at the Dress Factory in Malone. She was the Administrator of the Farrah Home for several years until a fall forced her retirement. She moved to Tupper Lake to be closer to her family. She became well acquainted in the Tupper Lake community due to volunteer work at her daughters shop, Nice Twice. A communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, past member of the Moose Club and Business and Professional Women's Club. She gave a full life of love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her children; Elizabeth Liz Dumont of Darlington, West Australia, Geneva Jenny Matlack of Las Vegas, NV, Gerald Sonny Dumont Jr. and his wife Karen of Pittsford, NY, Marian Ginger Hessel and Diana and her husband Joe LaDue of Tupper Lake. Also surviving are grandchildren; Stanley, Shane & Sally, children of Elizabeth, Robin daughter of Geneva, Gerald and Debbie children of Gerald, Jr., Daniel, Jeremiah & Melissa children of Ron. Brandy, Henry, & Joshua children of Diana and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, one sister Sally Monti of Depew, her son Ron Dumont of Apache Junction AZ, two grandsons, Daniel son of Ron and Robert son of Geneva. Calling hours are scheduled for Saturday, June 16 from 9 -11:00 a.m. at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St Alphonsus church. Burial will be at a later date at St. John Bosco cemetery in Malone. Memorial contributions may be made to a local charity of one's choice.
