Donald E. Duffy, age 40, of 29 Reservoir Lane, Bloomingdale, NY died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his home.
Born in Beeville, Texas on June 23, 1970, he was the son of Donald and Linda Duffy. He married Jodi Zmuda on July 2, 1994 in Buffalo, New York.
Don and Jodi moved to Saranac Lake in 1997 coming from Buffalo, NY. Don worked as a special education teacher for Franklin-Essex-Hamilton County BOCES for several years and later worked as a teacher for the Saranac Lake Central School District until he was unable to work due to his ALS. Don was a member of the Saranac Lake Pee Wee Hockey Association where he proudly coached hockey for 10 years. He later coached the Saranac Lake Girls Varsity Hockey team for the 2008-09 season. Don enjoyed hunting, camping, snowmobiling, snowboarding and especially riding his Harley.
He is survived by his wife Jodi, three children, McKayla, Donald D. and Jillian Duffy all of Bloomingdale, NY, his father Donald Duffy and his wife Carol of Bayport, NY, his mother Linda Mott and her husband Ken of Bayport, NY, two brothers Marc Duffy of Plattsburgh, NY, Matthew Duffy and his wife Theresa of Pleasant Valley, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.. Casual attire requested for Sunday calling hours. A funeral service will be take place on Monday February 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Bernard's Church with Pastor David Drake of the Vermontville Nazarene Church officiating.
