Frances E. Dickie, age 92, of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Monday, October 07, 2013 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, NY.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on July 28, 1921, she was the daughter of Leland and Grace (Bassett) Dassance.

Frances had been employed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation from 1973 to 1993 as a secretary. Prior to that she had worked as the City Editor for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise for 10 years. She had served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the First United Methodist Church, the 1980 Winter Olympics and was a member of the Northwood’s Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club. She was also a volunteer for High Peaks Hospice, the Adirondack Room and the Visitors Interpretive Center in Paul Smiths. Knitting was a hobby she loved and shared with many friends.

She is survived by one son Robert L. Dickie and his wife Susan of Mascot, TN, three grandsons Robert J. Dickie of Clifton Park, John Dickie of Scotia, Steven Dickie of Schenectady, and one great grandson Sean Michael Dickie of Schenectady. Fran is also survived by her special friends; Phyllis Duprey, Cay Craig, and Lois Klatt. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one grandson Sean R. Dickie.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at12:00 PM at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Richards officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Newfield, NY.
