Margaret “Peggy” A. DeVit, age 82, of Saranac Lake died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Mercy Health Care Center in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident since December 2013.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on October 30, 1932, she was the daughter of Ira “Pete” and Beatrice (Hannon) Munn.
Peggy had been employed as a playground aide, detention monitor and teacher’s aide for the Saranac Lake Central School District for many years. She was a past Lady of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1508. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and her family and friends will remember a wealth of good times shared with her.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa DeVit and her companion Ted Merrihew of Tupper Lake, her son, Michael DeVit and his companion Rita Tsang of Sudbury MA and stepson, Martin DeVit and his wife Marj of South Glens Falls, NY. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Dr. and Mrs. John Debbie of Saranac Lake and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Mario J DeVit of Ormond Beach Florida and her brother and sister in law Mr. and Mrs. David Munn of Saranac Lake as well as a half-brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joel and Eleanor Munn also of Saranac Lake.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
