Audrey M. Delair, age 84, Tupper Lake, NY passed away on August 12, 2012 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side after a brief illness.
She was born May 19, 1928 in Tupper Lake, NY, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Girard) Bates. She attended Tupper Lake High School and subsequently graduated from the Nursing Program at Champlain Valley receiving her RN in 1948.
Audrey was married to William Delair on September 8, 1950 at St. Alphonsus Church. She worked in the operating rooms at Saranac Lake General Hospital and Mercy Hospital before commencing employment at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Sunmount in Tupper Lake. She continued her employment at Sunmount with the State of New York in 1965, retiring in 1983 to care for her ailing mother.
She was predeceased by her mother, father and brother, Donald.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 61 years; three children: Rosanne Davies and her husband, Michael of Tupper Lake, NY; Gary and his wife, Karla of Lee, Massachusetts; Charles and his wife, Ann of Overland Park, Kansas, six grandchildren – William and Bobbi Jo Facteau, Kyle and Nikole Delair, Ryan and Matthew Delair, seven great-grandchildren - Josh Facteau, Krystal Gilbert, Mekedes Delair, William Jr, Clayton, Bradley and Chase Facteau .
Audrey spent the majority of her life taking care of others and enjoying every moment and opportunity to spend time with family and friends. A strong Christian woman who loved the Lord, Audrey was an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish. She was President of the Board of Directors and later served as Chair of the Supervisory Committee for the Adirondack Federal Credit Union
Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Cliff Avenue in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Church at 10:00 AM on August 16, 2012. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to High Peaks Hospice, 19 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY, 12983.
