Lewis Defuria

Lewis J DeFuria age 69, of 25 Sunset BLVD, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Adirondack Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Miami, FL on September 09, 1945, he was the son of Joseph and Phyllis (Beseth) DeFuria. He married Josephine Mihill on May 1, 1971 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.

Lou had been employed at Franklin-Hamilton-Essex BOCES in Saranac Lake for 13 years until his retirement in 2007. He loved building model airplanes and watching old movies. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Josephine DeFuria of Saranac Lake, one son Joseph DeFuria and his wife Jessie of Saranac Lake, one daughter Rebecca Meyers of Kingston, NY, one brother Barry DeFuria of Saranac Lake, four grandchildren Whitney, Brandon Faith and Michael and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 8:00 P.M. at the Fortune - Keough Funeral Home. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
