Lucille T. DeForge, age 95, of Lake Flower Ave, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
She was born in Lackawanna, New York on August 24, 1918, the daughter of Stella DeForge.
Miss DeForge has been a resident of Saranac Lake for many years. She had been employed by the Department of the Army at the Office of the Quartermaster General in Washington DC and later retired from the Harrisburg, PA office as a supervisor after 32 years of service. Lucille had been a member of the St. Bernard's Altar and Rosary Society, AARP, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, reading biographies, mysteries and her dachshunds. One of her favorite pastimes was garage saleing as soon as the season started.
She is survived by two brothers James Whitelaw of Bloomingdale and Thomas Whitelaw of Anaheim, CA several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Stella DeForge, her brother Raymond Whitelaw, her sister Jeannette LaPier, and her brother Richard Whitelaw.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 10:00 AM - 11:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.
