Philip A. Darrah, age 77, of 9 Marshall Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, December 05, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center of Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 02, 1931, he was the son of John and Ila (Hall) Darrah. He married Grace "Charley" Poole on October 23, 1971 in First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.
Mr. Darrah lived in Syracuse, New York for 18 years where he had worked in sheet metal. He retuned to Saranac Lake in 1970 and had worked as a carpenter for various area businesses and families.
He is survived by his wife Grace "Charley" Darrah of Saranac Lake, three sons David Darrah of North Carolina, Freddie Darrah of North Carolina, and Peter Darrah of Queensbury, NY, one sister Barbara Darrah of Saranac Lake, NY, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sons Russell and John Darrah, one daughter Wendy Darrah, two brothers Donald and James Darrah, and four sisters Helen Pond, Marion Darrah, Norma Stevens, and Muriel Waterstraat.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place on Thursday December 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Maggie McCarey officiating.
