Word has been received of the death of Julia Anne (Julie) Darrah on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Adirondack Medical Center, Uihlein.
She was born February 11, 1928 in Sugarbush, NY, the daughter of Michael and Anna Ryan Keese. She was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School, Class of 1944. She was married to Francis Darrah in 1948. Frank predeceased her in 1989.
Julie worked for the Saranac Lake Central School for 26 years, retiring in December 1991.
She is survived by her brother Michael Keese of Rochester, good friend Michael Ryan, many nieces and nephews, three daughters and sons in law: Kathryn and Dormer Stephen of Plattsburgh, Donna and Dennis Deily of Rochester NY and Joanne and Jerry Cavallo of Saranac Lake; six grandchildren: Dormer (Erin) Stephen, Brent (Kerri) Stephen, Nichole (Jay) Chaffee, Meghan (Michael) Friedle, Alyssa Cavallo and Christopher Cavallo and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Monica and Catherine.
Julie was a member of St. Bernards Parish, Catholic Daughters of America Court 787, CSEA Retirees and former member of Saranac Lake Women's Bowling Association. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Adirondack Medical Center, High Peaks Hospice and at Petrova School.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 2 at 10 AM at Fortune/Keough Funeral Home followed by a mass of Christian burial 12 noon at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will take place at St. Bernards Cemetary in the Spring.
