Eleanor Daniels, age 83 died at her home under the loving care of her daughter Virginia and High Peaks Hospice on Friday September 3, 2010.
Eleanor was born on March 8, 1928 in Saranac Lake, NY the Daughter of Burt and Genevieve (Ormsby) Nichols. She worked in the insurance business for 53 years starting with the Smith Agency which became the Smith-LaRose Agency, which was sold to the Northern Insurance Agency from which she retired.
Eleanor loved to do crafts and read. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Church especially the Ladies Guild for whom she knit many beautiful things for their annual bazaar each year. She also sang in the choir for many years and was the church treasurer several years ago.
Eleanor loved sporting her pets, all of which were adopted from the Tri-Lakes Humane Society.
Eleanor is survived by one daughter Virginia Daniels, three nieces Jennifer Zahn of Westbury, L.I., Melanie Jaramillo of Okemos, Michigan, and Pamela Zahn of Lakeland, Florida and one nephew Bernard Zahn of Staatsburg, New York.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday September 7. A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Church in Saranac Lake on Wednesday September 8th at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow in the church parish hall.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the High Peaks Hospice, Tri-Lakes Humane Society, or St. Luke’s Church in care of the funeral home.
