Matthew Czarnecki

March 28, 1931 — October 10, 2020

Matthew Czarnecki of Saranac Lake, NY, formerly of Rome, NY, passed away on October 10, 2020.

Matt was born March 28, 1931 to William and Katherine (Radon) Czarnecki. He graduated from Rome Free Academy, class of 1949. He attended Aliane College in Pennsylvania and University of Michigan.

Matt had many interests including his daily crosswords, building models, collecting replica vehicles, his beloved Red Sox and Syracuse University Basketball and Nascar.

Uncle Matt, as he was known to his family and community, was known for his good nature and frequent silly jokes.

Matt is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Frank (Donna), Bobby (Kim) and Karen Augustine. He had great nieces and a nephew: Briann Stegall, Scott and Kate Augustine, with whom he had a special bond. He was also very close to and supported by his niece Cheryl Rommel and dear friend Sandy Ayres. He often ended conversations with “Jo Cie Koham”, I love you in Polish.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at a later date and time convenient for the family. Burial will be in All Saints Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Rome, NY at a later date and time.
