Eunice M. Coolon, age 88, of Saranac Lake, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Mercy Health Care in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident since May.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on October 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Harvey and Eunice (Kelly) McDonald. Eunice married Charles C. Harvey and later married Dale Coolon.
Eunice was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. She graduated from Saranac Lake High School and North Country Community College where she received her License Practical Nursing degree. Throughout her life time she worked at various area businesses including the Saranac Lake Dinner, Saranac Lake Shoe factory, Saranac Lake Dress Factory, Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid and Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake until her retirement. She was a member of the Saranac Lake Adult Center. She also is a past member of the Saranac Lake Elks Club BPOE 1508 and Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons Neil (Mary) Harvey of Saranac Lake and Gregg (Colleen) Harvey of Saranac Lake, one daughter Lynn (Roger) Hickok of Saranac Lake, two sisters Irene Darling of Florida and Josephine (Jessie) Johnson of Florida, her half-sister Patricia (Gordon) Given of Virginia and her half-brother Peter McDonald of Oklahoma, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, one infant sister and brother and her first Husband Charles Harvey and second husband Dale Coolon.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
