Harold R. Cook, Jr., age 70, formerly of Saranac Lake and currently of 28 Cubb Circle, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at C.V.P.H Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Born in Syracuse, New York on February 11, 1944, he was the son of Harold and Arlene (Manning) Cook, Sr.
Harold had been employed as a school bus driver for the Saranac Lake Central School District for over 20 years until his retirement in 2001. He was an avid Yankee’s fan and New England Patriots fan. Harold is a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1962 to 1965. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Bread of Life Baptist Church in Plattsburgh and a past member of the Saranac Lake Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Elsie Cook of Plattsburgh, his mother Arlene Sweet Defayette and step father Donald Defayette of Plattsburgh, two brothers Robert and Paul Sweet both of Plattsburgh, one sister Melissa Sweet-Boucher of Plattsburgh, one step brother Ray Harold Cook of Missouri and two step sisters Colleen and Roxanne and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Harold R. Cook, Sr., step father Howard Sweet and one sister Phyllis Seeley.
Calling hours will take place at the Saranac Lake Baptist Church on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Rev. Harold Clark and Rev. David Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
