TUPPER LAKE- Delia M. Connor, 94, a lifelong resident of Tupper Lake, passed into the arms of our Lord on Monday, March 2, 2009. Born on May 1, 1914 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Urgelle and Ella (Carrow) Madore. Delia, was the last of nine surviving children. She attended Holy Ghost Academy and was a communicant at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. She most recently resided at AMC Mercy Center in Tupper Lake. On October 22, 1933, she married Maurice S. Connor in Tupper Lake. Maurice pre-deceased her on June 19, 1996 in Plattsburgh. They had been married for over 62, years. They are survived by five children and their spouses; Marvin and Mary (Carr) Connor, Alvin Connor, Calvin and Dian (Tatro) Connor, James and Shirley (Miller) Connor and Patricia (Connor) Pierson and her husband Herbert. Delia took great pride in the fact that she had 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Madore and Betty Madore and several nieces and nephews. Delia loved being a grandmother and was always making quilts for the newborns and crafts for her family. She also gardened every year until about 2003. She and Maurice often had the seniors down to their property on the Irish Settlement in Plattsburgh for picnics and outings which they both enjoyed and frequently talked about. Delia was a member of the Ste Anne’s Society, she was also a Cubscout mother and a Kateri mother. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters, Wilfred Madore, Elzear Madore, Edgar Madore, Lawrence Madore, George Madore, Dorothy (Madore) Richer, Bernadette (Madore) Delair and Hazel (Madore) Dowe. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery in May.
