Miss Phyllis May Collette, 85, died at her residence, Forest Home Road, Lake Clear on January 14, 2010.
Phyllis was born in Swanton, Vermont on May 23, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Alwillder (Duffy) Collette. She attended school in Swanton and Saranac Lake graduating from Saranac Lake High School in 1942. Phyllis took adult education courses at The Guild and Saranac Lake High School.
She was employed for many years at J.J. Newberry, Grand Union, and the American Management Association from which she retired in 1986. Phyllis was very active in North Country Association of Fiddlers and the Winter Carnival Committee. She had a deep interest in local history, particularly of the Forest Home area.
Survivors include cousins and a number of close personal friends including Irene Ladd Goetz and Joe Swinyer, both of Plattsburgh.
Following cremation, a graveside service and burial will take place on May 23, 2010 (2 p.m.) at the Jay Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Jay, Vermont. This would have been her 86th birthday. Phyllis will be buried with her mother who died in 1978. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
