Karen Cole

February 21, 1958 — July 15, 2013

Karen M. Cole, age 55, of Saranac Lake, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on February 21, 1958, Karen was the daughter of Robert and Bertha A. (French) Rombough. She married Nicolas Cole on July 3, 1982 in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on June 6, 2009.

Karen was a life long resident of the area and had been employed at the American Management Association(AMA) in Saranac Lake for 34 years. She retired from AMA in 2011. Karen enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and was especially fond of the time she was able to spend on the lake boating with her grandchildren and family. She always put her grandchildren and family first. Karen’s “family time” also included many, many hours watching nieces and nephews play youth and high school soccer, hockey and softball. Her presence at those events will be greatly missed!

Karen is survived by one daughter Erin Perry and her husband Jeremy of Saranac Lake, NY, one sister, Carol Sussey and her husband Donald of Ellenton, FL, two grand children Ali and Ethan Perry of Saranac Lake and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two brothers Francis and Martin Rombough.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid and will be followed by an informal gathering at Karen’s home.

Friends wishing to remember Karen may make memorial contributions to North Country Life Flight in care of the funeral home. Family and friends are also encouraged to share their memories and sign the online guestbook at fortunekeoughfuneralhome.com
