John Colby

April 16, 1954 — February 4, 2023

John E. Colby, formerly of the Essex Center, Elizabethtown, NY unexpectedly gained his wings on February 4th 2023 at the age of 68.

John was born April 16, 1954 in Gloversville, NY to Franklin and Dorothy (Stewart) Colby. He grew up in Saranac Lake, NY. Later in life he lived in Tupper Lake, Hague, and Glens Falls, NY.

John had a great love for animals, he loved music, he loved fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving man with an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. He will be missed greatly.

John is survived by his brother Frank Colby (Trudi Siddell), his nieces Sarah Colby (Shahim Ivery), Katie (Tyshaun) Jackson and Stephanie Colby, his nephew Josh Colby (Alicia Perry) and several great nieces and a great nephew.

John was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert Colby.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral and burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
