Todd Claremont

October 11, 1971 — January 17, 2022

Todd A. Claremont, 50, of Gabriels, died unexpectedly on Monday January 17, 2022. Born in Saranac Lake, NY, he was the son of Albert and Shirley (Parker) Claremont.

Todd was predeceased by his parents Albert and Shirley Claremont, his brother Paul Claremont, and his brother in law Roger Smith. He is survived and adored by his wife Charlene (Madore) Claremont, his two daughters Ashley (Claremont) Rule and her husband Tyler, and Kellie Claremont as well as his granddaughter Anna Rule. He is also survived by his siblings Shelley (Claremont) Smith, and Jim Claremont and his companion Haydee Durand as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Todd married the love of his life, Charlene, on June 11th, 1994. Together they built a life in Gabriels, NY with their two daughters. He was a family man who selflessly put his family first and foremost. He loved being a husband, dad, and grandpa. He very much enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Anna, and his grand-dog Ruby.

Todd put in 28 years of law enforcement service, 20 of which was in the New York State Police and 8 with the Saranac Lake PD. During his law enforcement career, he held the title of child passenger safety seat technician, D.A.R.E officer and instructor, investigator for the BCI, troop breath tester recertification officer, radar instructor, EVOC instructor, State Police youth program counselor and Troop Traffic Safety Officer. Todd was also an active member of the Paul Smiths Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He was thankful for his State Police and Fire Dept Family.

Todd’s death came as a shock to everyone. He was absolutely dedicated to everything he chose to do in his life. He was a dedicated member of the community through his service with the State Police and with the Paul Smiths Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department. His most steadfast dedication was reserved for his family. He enjoyed doing things for those he loved, routinely going above and beyond in any given situation and without question. Some of the things he enjoyed the most were taking walks with his family, staying in shape, and doing whatever he could to put a smile on his granddaughter’s face daily.
