Catherine Moody (Branch) MacDougal

Catherine (Branch) MacDougal, 97, passed away peacefully at Elderwood of Uihlein on June 26th following a brief illness. 

She was born in Saranac Lake on November 15, 1926, to Herbert and Ina (Peltier) Moody. 

She was raised by her Great Aunt Kate and Uncle Harry Burns, and grew up in Schenectady, NY, where she graduated from St. Columba’s High School. While working for the New York Telephone Company, she met and married Marshall Branch. They had six children: Bumper, Bernie, Spencer, Lyle, Marilyn, and Susan. They later divorced; she was married briefly to Tiny MacDougal.

She worked various jobs throughout her life including behind the soda fountain at Meyer’s Drug Store, salesclerk at Newberry’s and Ames, and as a finance clerk for the American Management Association. For many years, she ran a daycare in her home. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Spencer Herbert, her mother and father, brother Bernard Moody, and granddaughter Trisha Branch. 

 Survivors include all of her children; Bumper (Sharon); Bernie (Pam); Lyle (Carol); Marilyn (Conrad) and Susan. She is also survived by grandchildren Tamara (Jason), Ryan (Lisa) Tyler, Heather (Joe), Hollie, Katie, Kimberly (Townsend), Colleen (Mike), Marshall, Matthew (Kate) and Lindsay (Dave), Carly and Jack D’errico and many great grandchildren which were the light of her life.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
