Carolyn Leona (Tanzini) Moody passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024.
Carolyn was born on September 12, 1943 in Saranac Lake, NY to Mary Leona (Donaldson) Tanzini and William Joseph Tanzini.
Carolyn treasured her family above all else. She was the best mother and grandmother ever and will be greatly missed! She loved her pets Molly, Lady and Chester as well as her granddoggers and grandkitters (more recently she enjoyed visiting Randy’s cat, Rico, whenever she got the chance). She enjoyed sewing and handcrafting beautiful quilts, many of which are now precious family heirlooms. Many family members also cherish Raggedy Ann and Andys that Carolyn made. Carolyn was a founding member of the Champlain Valley Quilters Guild as well as the Cabin Fever Quilters and attended numerous craft shows. She was an avid bowler for many years, and especially enjoyed the Sunday night league. Carolyn worked at a fabric store in Saranac Lake for a number of years, was a Home Health Aide for North Country Home Services, and cleaned houses and camps for over 50 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Mace L. Moody, Jr.; children Cindy Moody (Bill) Jost of Gabriels, NY, Penny Moody of Malone, NY, Mace L. (Karolyn) Moody, III of Lake Clear, NY, Randy (Caroleigh Meserole) Moody of Saranac Lake, NY, Angela Moody (Bill) Cassavaugh of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren Maria (Rick) Hurteau, Jill Lambert, Jennifer Taylor, Jared Moody, Mace (Katie) Moody, IV, Nicole (Evan) Canull, Paige (Michael) Malseptic, Blair (Craig) MacDonald, and Cale Cassavaugh; in-laws Clemos Tanzini, Sue Moody, and Reggie (Barb) Moody all of Lake Clear, NY; and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was predeceased in death by her parents, brother William R. Tanzini, grandson Shane William Cassavaugh, and in-laws Mace L. Moody, Sr., Doris Moody Cook, Clarence “Lucky” Cook, Charlie Moody, Diana Aubin, and Sandra (Zeke) Vandenburgh.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At Carolyn’s request, there will be no public calling hours or services. The family is planning a private celebration of life as part of their annual family get together on July 4th.
Carolyn’s family is deeply grateful to High Peaks Hospice for all of their great care and support when it was needed most.
