George Joseph “Larry Walker” Campion, age 62, of Vermontville, NY, died
Wednesday, January 04, 2017.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 09, 1954, he was the son of John and Margaret (Sullivan) Campion. George, married Mary Weston on October 6, 2000 in Paul Smiths, NY.
George attended and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1972. He later attended and received his Bacholors degree in biology from Layola College in Montreal in 1976. Following college he was employed by the New York State Department of Labor for 31 years until his retirement in 2008. George was a member of the Federal Credit Union, East Branch
Rod and Gun Club and faithful Belvedere patron. He loved hunting, hiking, boating, skiing, photography, music, camp swimming, traveling and especially spending time with family.
George is survived by his wife Mary of Vermontville, one daughter Mary Elizabeth "Mimi” Campion of Rye, NY, four brothers John Campion of Saranac Lake, Michael Campion of Bend, OR, Patrick Campion and wife Ellen of Spandway, WA, and James Campion of Saranac Lake, one sister Margaret
Campion of Saranac Lake and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 7, 2017 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in the spring.
