Gloria Byno

June 21, 1922 — January 2, 2016

Gloria Anne Byno, age 93, of 67 Split Rock Road, Saranac Lake, went to heaven to be with her grandson, Rob, on Saturday, January 02, 2016. She spent her final moments at home, in her favorite chair with her family and dog, Mikey by her side.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 21, 1922, she was the daughter of Fredrick and Margaret (O'Neil) Reed. Gloria married the love of her life, Robert Byno, Sr. on August 18, 1945 in St. Albans, Queens, NY.

Gloria lived in Massapequa Park, Long Island where she raised 5 children and worked as a secretary for Topics, Inc. in New York City for many years. She vacationed in the Adirondacks for several years before eventually moving to Saranac Lake with her husband in 1972, following his retirement from Nassau County Police Department.

She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother there could be. She loved her family so much and will be greatly missed. Her wonderful smile will always be remembered and cherished. Gloria was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was an avid bowler in Long Island and Tri-Town.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years Robert Byno, Sr. of Saranac Lake, two daughters Lois (Don) Stunzi of Paul Smiths, NY and Janice Fitzgibbon of Manorville, NY, three sons Robbie (Michele) Byno of Saranac Lake, Billy (Connie) Byno of Michigan and Paul (Brandi) Byno of Saranac Lake, 12 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister, three brothers, one niece, and one grandson Rob Byno, III.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Thursday January 7, 2016 from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday January 8, 2016 at Church of the Assumption in Gabriels with Fr. Patrick Mundy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
