James "Jim" Butzer

November 21, 1962 — October 17, 2014

Word has been received of the death of James Joseph "Jim" Butzer, age 51 of Saranac Lake who died on October 17, 2014.

Jim was a retired New York State Trooper and had owned and operated Club Saranac gym in Saranac Lake for many years. He also was a member of the Saranac Lake Elk’s Club BPOE 1508.

He is the beloved son of Lawrence T. and Mary Jane (Kobiolka) Butzer; dearest brother of Kathleen (Fred) Marshall, Eugene (Cathleen) Butzer, Joseph (Cindy) Butzer, Alan Butzer and the late Lawrence T. Butzer, III; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; cherished grandson of the late Lawrence (Gertrude) Butzer and the late Joseph (Estelle) Kobiolka.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the WENTLAND FUNERAL HOME, 10634 Main St. (Rte. 62), North Collins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10 AM from Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Langford.

A memorial mass will also take place in Saranac Lake on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard’s Church. A reception will follow at the Saranac Lake Elks Club. Local arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
